Featuring Debashish Bhattacharya, virtuosic slide guitarist and living master of the Hindustani classical tradition, as well as Gabriel Marin(hailed as the “guiding light for his generation of 6 stringers”), the ensemble will cover music from North India, Central Asia and the Middle East, while incorporating the poetry of Kabir and other mystics whose message resonates across culture and time.

We are thrilled to present a unique and soulful musical performance by The Debashish Bhattacharya Trio, comprised of Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya, the foremost slide guitarist of our time, his daughter Anandi Bhattacharya, a brilliant vocalist, and his brother Subhasis Bhattacharya, considered to be among the greatest percussionists of his generation. Together, they will be performing a mesmerizing blend of strings, voice, and tabla that is sure to leave you spellbound. Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya is a renowned musician who has enriched the world of Indian and global music with his astonishing virtuosity and innovative creations of elegant slide guitars. He has received numerous international awards and accolades, including a Grammy Nomination in 2009. Anandi Bhattacharya is a gifted vocalist who has inherited her father’s musical talent and has already been recognized as a rising star in her own right. Subhasis is among the most in-demand tabla artists in world music.

Gabriel Akhmad Marin
Fresh back from a 10 week solo tour of Turkiye, the Middle East and Central Asia featuring numerous shows, recordings and Masterclasses, Multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Akhmad Marin has been called a “Fusion Wizard”(Guitar World) and “boasts insane chops, impeccable time, mastery of diverse traditional scales, rare fretless guitar fluency, and a gift for manipulating effects,” (Premier Guitar Magazine). Called “the guiding light for his generation of six-stringers” by The Buffalo Times, He is “A fretless guitar virtuoso whose microtonal adventures rival those of many eastern musicians, and a talent for rhythm and nuttiness” (Bass Musician Magazine). He was also noted as a “Master of the Dutar” (NPR, New Sounds).
Gabriels solo album “Ruminate” spent 3 months on the Global World Music Charts and received glowing reviews in the top
World Music magazines. He has studied and performed music from North and South India, Iran, the Balkans, Turkey, Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as Western classical music and avant-garde Jazz. As one of the few players to explore the fretless guitar and MIDI guitar, he has found a truly unique and expressive voice. In addition to this, his exploration and layering of a vast array of effects contributes to his distinct sound. He is a founding member of internationally renowned fusion band Consider the Source. In addition to Guitar, Gabriel is versed in various Dutars, Dombra, Tanbour and Uctelli Saz. In addition to other projects, currently Gabriel has a group with reknown Tajik Dutar master Sirojiddin Juraev and has been to Tajikistan twice this year for recordings and performances with an album to come.

Daniel Kurfirst
He has lectured at Columbia University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Rabindra Sadan Nandan Campus(India) and the New York City Public School System.
As a sideman, he regularly works with a who’s who of NYC’s most creative musicians, including Matt Darriau, Sonnelius Smith, Cheikh Hamala Diabate, Arun Ramamurthy, Trina Basu, Adam Rudolph, Hamid Drake, Rodney Chapman and Matt Lavelle, to name just a few.
In 2022, he released his debut as a leader, Arkinetics, a suite of rhythmic mantras performed within the free jazz tradition which Relix magazine hailed as “Luminescent….a low key gem of jazz album”. The album features Daniel Carter (reeds/trumpet), Alexis Marcelo (keys), Damon Banks (bass) and Roshni Samlal (tabla).
He continues to compose and practice drumset and tabla while living with his wife and children in Brooklyn, NY.
